2001, 2002, and 2004 for ‘Best Public Service.’ He also coordinates all sports broadcasts on WOBM and WADB and has been honored as New Jersey Sportscaster of the Year eight times.
“Kevin is a Jersey Shore icon,” said BlueClaws General Manager Geoff Brown. “We couldn’t be more excited to add his charismatic personality to our first three broadcasts this year. This is an extra-special week for us because the 2007 Opener will feature a Championship Banner Raising to honor the first Jersey Shore South Atlantic League Champions. It’s great that Kevin can be a part of that.”
Beginning April 8th, Brendan Burke will join the broadcast team as the lead play-by-play voice of the BlueClaws. A 2006 graduate of Ithaca College, Burke is a former voice of the Batavia (NY) Muckdogs, formerly a Phillies affiliate, where he worked last year with BlueClaws manager Steve Roadcap and many of the current players. He is currently the youngest broadcaster in the ECHL, where he calls games for the Wheeling (WV) Nailers.
Burke replaces Ben Wagner, who recently accepted a position with the AAA Buffalo Bisons.
Again in 2007, all BlueClaws games can be heard on the Shore Sports Network, 1160 WOBM-AM and 1310 WADB. Each broadcast will begin 15 minutes before the first pitch.
The Lakewood BlueClaws are defending South Atlantic League Champions and open the 2007 season April 5, 2007 at FirstEnergy Park at 6:35 p.m.
The BlueClaws have led the league in attendance every year, adding 448,310 fans in 2006. Next season, the BlueClaws will become the fastest team in South Atlantic League and New Jersey baseball history to reach the 3 million fan attendance mark.
