LAKEWOOD, NJ – Seven former BlueClaws are among the eight Phillies representatives in the prestigious Arizona Fall League, which begins Tuesday. The Arizona Fall League is considered the premier winter league in the country and features top prospects from all 30 organizations. All the Phillies representatives will play for Scottsdale.

Domonic Brown, ranked the top prospect in the Phillies organization by Baseball America, leads the Phillies contingent. Brown, who was with Lakewood in 2008, hit .294 with 14 hom-

e runs and 54 RBIs between Clearwater and Reading while missing about a month with a broken finger. He was also ranked among the top five prospects in both the Eastern and Florida State Leagues this year.

Steve Susdorf played part of 2009 with Lakewood, hitting .333 over a month period in helping the BlueClaws win the first-half championship. He was then promoted to Clearwater at the All-Star break and after hitting .371 with the Threshers, Susdorf was then promoted to Reading, where he finished the season.

Tuffy Gosewisch played for the BlueClaws in 2007, and the catcher spent part of this year with Reading before finishing the season with Lehigh Valley.

Shortstop Troy Hanzawa was one of the best defensive shortstops in the league for the 2009 SAL Champion BlueClaws, and the 24-year old will head to Arizona. He hit .267 for the BlueClaws this year after being drafted in 2008 out of San Diego State.

Among the pitchers, Mike Cisco spent part of 2008 with Lakewood after being drafted in the 11th round out of South Carolina. This year, went 7-3 with Clearwater and finished the season 2-4 with Double-A Reading.

After having Tommy John Surgery last year, Mike Zagurski went 3-4 with Reading in 2009. The left-hander was a key relief pitcher on the 2006 SAL Champion BlueClaws.

Scott Mathieson, with the BlueClaws in 2004, gave up three earned runs in 33 innings between the Gulf Coast League, Clearwater, and Reading this year. The 25 year old Canadian is receovering from his second Tommy John Surgery.

Finally, relief pitcher Michael Schwimer, who skipped Lakewood after being drafted last year out of Virginia, had 20 saves for Clearwater and finished the season with Double-A Reading.

2009 BlueClaws pitching coach Bob Milacki is the pitching coach for Scottsdale.
